Reporting to the V.P. Finance, the Accounting Technician will be primarily responsible for the full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable for a portfolio of properties.
TASKS
- Recording recurring, standard journal entries in the accounting system;
- Preparing bank reconciliations;
- Creating invoices and recording payments collected from tenants;
- Receiving, coding, and distributing supplier invoices for approval;
- Entering supplier invoices into the accounting system;
- Issuing checks and coordinating supplier payment;
- Reviewing and entering expense reports into the accounting system;
- Assisting with other ad hoc projects.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Previous experience in a similar role is essential; knowledge of the real estate industry is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Familiarity with financial reporting practices and an understanding of accounting systems and software, experience using Spectra and Simply Accounting is an asset but not essential
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A team player who can develop and sustain cooperative working relationships
