Reporting to the V.P. Finance, the Accounting Technician will be primarily responsible for the full cycle of accounts payable and accounts receivable for a portfolio of properties.
TASKS
Recording recurring, standard journal entries in the accounting system;
Preparing bank reconciliations;
Creating invoices and recording payments collected from tenants;
Receiving, coding, and distributing supplier invoices for approval;
Entering supplier invoices into the accounting system;
Issuing checks and coordinating supplier payment;
Reviewing and entering expense reports into the accounting system;
Assisting with other ad hoc projects.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Previous experience in a similar role is essential; knowledge of the real estate industry is considered an asset.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
Familiarity with financial reporting practices and an understanding of accounting systems and software, experience using Spectra and Simply Accounting is an asset but not essential
Proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
A team player who can develop and sustain cooperative working relationships
