Local expertise, a national scope, and a business model that continues to evolve alongside communities
MONTREAL, Quebec, June 18, 2026 – Forum is proud to celebrate 25 years building an integrated real estate model that brings together retail, services, and eco-friendly living environments that contribute to the vitality of neighborhoods and communities. Founded in Quebec as Brookline Developments, Forum is a real estate platform powered by vision and expertise anchored in Quebec with a growing footprint in strategic locations across Canada.
Forum designs projects based on a simple idea: the best plans are rooted in a deep understanding of the local community. Forum combines know-how drawn from experience and an understanding of local realities to create projects that meet the needs of residents, businesses, and the communities it serves.
"When Paul Schachter and I embarked on this journey 25 years ago, we were convinced that the strongest communities are built around places that foster connections and meet everyday needs,” says Dean Mendel, founding partner of Forum. “That conviction remains unchanged. Our ability to evolve with the communities we serve has shaped our success to date and will continue to guide our development for years to come.”
Historically, communities grew up around the church or the village square. Today, many of Forum’s projects are centered around neighborhood businesses that serve as gathering places. Often anchored by a grocery store, these projects foster close ties between residents, local businesses, and everyday services. This vision has enabled the development of commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects that foster vibrant, practical, and sustainable neighborhoods. The philosophy behind it all: transactions create buildings; shared interests build communities.
The Lustra residential complex in Terrebonne, Quebec, is a prime example of this evolution: developed on property already owned by the company, this project which includes 237 rental units integrated into its IGA-anchored Promenades Terrebonne shopping centre was designed and built by Forum’s development and construction teams. Today the complex is managed by Forum’s property management team, reflecting their expertise in the operation and administration of diversified real estate assets.
This diversified service offering is also on display in Westmount, Quebec, where the first tenants will begin moving in as early as July 2026. This comes on the heels of the 100 Windsor Westmount project being named winner of both Luxury Lifestyle Awards / Best Luxury Urban Renewal Project and CoStar Impact Award – Redevelopment of the Year.
As a full-service real estate developer, Forum is part of every stage of the development cycle: from identifying and acquiring property to planning, construction, leasing, and day-to-day property management. This integrated approach ensures the continuity, quality, and efficiency of each project. It also allows the company to remain closely connected to its properties, its partners, and communities.
As Forum enters its next quarter-century, the focus is on continued growth by building on the same principles that have guided its distinctive success: deep knowledge of local markets, a long-term vision, and the unwavering ability to adapt to change.
