Montreal-based Forum is celebrating 25 years of building an integrated real estate platform focused on retail, services and environmentally conscious living environments that strengthen neighbourhoods and communities. Initially introduced as Brookline Developments, the company has evolved into a full-service developer with a growing presence in strategic markets across Canada. Its approach is rooted in local knowledge, combining development expertise with an understanding of each community’s residents, businesses and daily needs.

Founding partner Dean Mendel says the company was built on the belief that strong communities grow around places that encourage connection and convenience. “When Paul Schachter and I embarked on this journey 25 years ago, we were convinced that the strongest communities are built around places that foster connections and meet everyday needs,” he said. “That conviction remains unchanged. Our ability to evolve with the communities we serve has shaped our success to date and will continue to guide our development for years to come.”

Today, Forum most often develops projects around grocery-anchored retail destinations, creating practical mixed-use environments where residents can access everyday services close to home.
The company’s integrated model spans acquisition, planning, construction, leasing and property management. As example of the diversified service, at the Lustra residential complex in Terrebonne, Forum developed over 230 rental units integrated into its grocery-anchored Promenades Terrebonne centre and continues to manage the property. In Westmount in Montreal, the award-winning 100 Windsor Westmount project is preparing to welcome its first residents in July 2026. Looking ahead, Forum plans to build on its local expertise, adaptability and long-term commitment to community-focused development.
